New York Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman had a tense encounter with police from Darien, Connecticut, on Friday.
Luckily for Cashman, it was a case of mistaken identity. Police body camera video released on Wednesday shows what happened. Cashman's Jeep Wrangler had recently been stolen, and he'd just picked it up from police. He was taking it to Norwalk, Connecticut, to get it processed by police there. However, the vehicle had not yet been removed from the stolen vehicle list.

Driving While White.
He conducted himself PROPERLY, he did NOT ARGUE with the cops, he did what they asked, and he was LET GO, even though he was driving a car reported stolen AND that matched the description of one driven by a crazed gunman.
He was ordered to get out of the vehicle at gunpoint, just like they do with minority suspects.
Maybe some clerk in Darien wanted to let Brian know they were not happy with the Yankees performance yesterday. ;-)

I know this looks funny Officer really. Then over the top of his pistol he says No it doesnt. You say but its really my car. He says good, well sort it out and I wont shoot you. Later. Officer says have a nice day. I had a similar event trying to open my car with a coat hangar trying to get my keys. The officers sense of humor wasnt there that day either.
See you in October—well, if our pitchers can hold it together. ;-)
So you’re bi-coastal?
I got enough hate to go around.
I'll pull over Raider fans at gunpoint too, in my perfect world.
There was a recent movie called The Hate U Give where a black kid is shot by cops and the community is in an uproar. I didnt see it, but they show the inciting incident in the trailer. He is firmly and clearly told to keep his hands on the roof of the car. Instead, he reaches into the open window of the car, grabs a hair brush, winks at his girlfriend, and pulls the brush out. He is then shot to death. As you or I would be if we decided to pull a cute stunt in front of tense cops.
The best thing EVER.
STEINBRENNER: You know as painfull as it is I had to let a few people go over the years. Yogi Berra, Lou Pinella, Bucky Dent, Billy Martin, Dallas Green, Dick Houser, Bill Virdon, Billy Martin, Scott Marrow, Billy Martin, Bob Lemmon, Billy Martin, Gene Michael, Buck Showalter, uh, tut!, . . .George, you didn't hear that from me. [George exits] . . . George!
Treating whites the same way they treat blacks. Imagine that.
If you can rev up a time machine to take me back to the 1970’s when I met Billy Martin, I’ll tell him about this episode. And about Jerry. And about George.
Karma for removing Kate Smith.
I guess it hasn’t reached LaHood yet, but cops really prefer to NOT shoot people in cold blood, regardless of race.
So you're satisfied winning 3 of 11 series? You Dodger fans have low standards. As a long-time Yankee fan, I'm annoyed that the Yankees lost three times to the Bums. Only in 1963, were the Dodgers a better team.
