Iron is heavier than lithium. So, wouldnt the batteries be heavier.

"Iron is so plentiful, that it might be an option for mass storage on the electric grid." Sodium is much more so, and is one of the preferred techs for grid-scale battery storage. There is also a strong possibility that sodium can displace lithium in solid-state batteries that have a glass electrolyte.
