If anyone, cohort or not, is killed in the commission of a crime, it is a felony murder charge.

Yes they will and no they won’t. This is Lake County Illinois, not Cook County. They’re serious up there. The Lake County jury is going to convict them and the Lake County Judge is going to put them all away for a very long time.

Well lads, it’s like this. You can get your posse together and rip off a mini mart. Easy peasy. But if you’re going to try to break into an old man’s car, and he has a gun in his hands, don’t approach him. So on that, you chose poorly. Oh and remember, always check the gas gauge. It helps to have a full tank of gas when you try to outrun the police.

I’m not a lawyer, but as I understand it, ‘felony murder’ refers to a death caused during the commission of a felony. If one commits a serious crime (felony) and someone dies because of it, one can be charged with felony murder. Say someone is running away from a bank robbery and the police car chasing them hits and kills a pedestrian, then the robbers can be charged with felony murder.
