Cops confiscated over 1,600 knives from schools, a five-year high

The number of weapons confiscated in city schools last year hovered near a five-year high — with knife seizures up a startling 92% since 2015, according to a Post analysis of new NYPD data.

A total of 1,677 knives — nearly one for every city school — were found on students during the past academic year, the numbers show.

This is all directly attributable to the actions of DumblASSio. It was he who wanted metal detectors removed from schools because they were bad optics for his beloved ghetto thugs' culpability in school incidents. It was he whose new policies made it far more difficult for teachers to suspend disruptive students. It was he who instituted disciplinary policies in schools which had students attend some kind of laughable "Restorative Justice "sessions instead of receiving some real consequences for bad actions. In other words, he eliminated any real consequences for bad actions, and the students were then freed to do whatever their little hearts desired, to the detriment of school tone and any learning going on. Add his little helper in all this, schools chancellor Carranza, the little SJW commie, and you can see why record numbers of weapons have now been found. NYC schools are now more jungle than places of learning.

Yet in home-ec and shop class you can find knives, saws, screw drivers, awls, etc. Even when I was in school I thought it was a major security lapse that we couldn’t have plastic butter knives at lunch but were trusted with power tools and razor blades because a teacher was present.

Same here. I am never without a knife.

I had my very first knife when I was 7. I made it myself. I took a 9” steel gutter spike and used my grandpa’s anvil and hammers and blowtorch to flatten and shape it into a knife.
I used sandpaper to put an edge on it and I took a scrap piece of wood, drilled a hole through it length-wise and split it so that I could glue it on the knife for a handle.
I was so proud of that knife. It took my mom 2 days to discover it and take it away from me.

A while back I saw here on FR about an Elderly Couple went for a Picnic, got pulled over for Speeding and those good old Bobbies found... GASP !!! A Pairing Knife in the car during a search. (OK you can breath again)

They told the cop it was for cutting the Fruit and Veggies The Couple had brought for lunch. The cop didn’t care.

Reminds me of 1960, when all the boys in school had pocket knives, and sat around at noon sharpening them. No one was ever stabbed or cut.

Go find any home-ec or shop classes in NYC. They were eliminated long ago because a lot of the kids taking those courses--which could provide them a living--were instead encouraged to go to college, for which they were not intellectually or emotionally inclined. The do-good libtards kept crying it was "racist" that vocational ed courses were mostly attended by black kids. Never mind they went on to make good livings, no. They HAD to go to college. Even if it meant they had to take 3 years of remedial courses there and still flunked out. This is how libtards destroy society. Facet by facet. Those kids were happy and productive in those vo-ed classes and produced some fantastic things. But that didn't serve the libtard narrative. The shop classrooms were shuttered, the beautiful and expensive equipment was allowed to rust and molder, and vital skills were never taught again.
