I hear you but I figured perhaps the family asked the lawyers to make the request. Perhaps the lawyers advised the family to do that. I don’t know the legalities of such a request or demand, and who has standing to make such a request.
Even in cases like this, their are often family members who cling to various hopes of innocence or just want the truth, even if they hate what the person did.
