Unlike Taiwan, they are actually part of China, and the people in Hong Kong seem to be in a hurry to find out just that fact.

But under the terms of reunionification, they were supposed to have a great deal of autonomy until 2097. The Chinese didn't like the criticism of the Mainland government coming out of Hong Kong.

Actually, it was 50 years (2047), but close enough. In any case, he who has the tanks makes the rules, and the only tanks available, to speak of, in that part of the world are in China. So, I guess, the 50 years was a typo...they meant 20 years.

Oh well, who’s going to enforce 50 years?
