Wasp larvae.
They chew and burrow INTO a catepillar and something interesting and biochemical happens:
The catepillar becomes much more aggressive against perceived attackers; it will defend the parasitic larvae much more aggressively than it would ordinarily have defended itself.
The catepillar is UNABLE to see what is happening, it can’t see the TOTAL picture that is has become FOOD and that is why the attack can continue until the very end.
Wouldn’t it be good for the catepillar is only it wake up and could behold it’s TRUE situation..?
Yet this horrifying situation so close to it —indeed IN it— remains invisible.
