Pop superstar Taylor Swift has explained her decision not to endorse Hillary Clinton during the 2016 presidential election, arguing that Donald Trump was successfully weaponizing the concept of “celebrity endorsements” and would portray the pair as “the two nasty women.”
In a lengthy interview with Vogue, Swift admitted that she did not believe her endorsement would help Hillary’s campaign, despite widespread pressure on her to do so.

That’s been the rumor for a while.
She is a very good person. She is focused on gay marriage and lgbtq rights but she is still - for a celebrity - an amazing person. And quite the talent.

And I read the interview and she was going through a horrible time in her life with Kanye and Kim saying the worst things about her and tricking her and she was getting bad press by the lefties that was not at all true. She’d been a beloved protected teen celebrity; she really wasn’t hardened until they got her.
She is very intelligent. What she meant in the interview is that your average voter would believe the bad press about Taylor (which was all wrong), and say - oh of course the “selfish bitch” would vote for the other selfish bitch - and that her endorsement wouldn’t have helped.
And I’m sure part of it was also that at least half, probably more, of her fans loved her from conservative country days and she didn’t want to offend half her audience. Now she has enough audience to the point where she wants to get out there with her political endorsements. Ok. Whatever. I remain a fan of hers.
Everybody has mental strengths and weaknesses. She seems to be doing pretty well. Better than me, anyway.
