FYI just listened to JohnBatchelorShow. His usual China people were extremely down, all of them speaking very concerned and worried, obviously. “The future of Hong Kong is cloudy and we have watched it deteriorate.”
IIRC there are 8million residents, and 2million of them were out protesting.
China said it doesn’t want protesting, altho it is not its call, but head of HK is a China pawn.
Am thinking China/Xi in bad mood from Trump/tariffs surely wont be helping this HK situation.
Gordon Chang reporter extraordinaire,sp or something has family in HK.
China has massed troops on the border IIRC.
I’m wondering if China may be forced to fold before the 2020 elections. Once the Durham indictments and Horowitz report come out, it may be pointless for the Chinese to wait for a Democrat win. It will likely be obvious by then, that the Democrats don’t have a hope in hell of winning and they’re better off making a deal sooner rather than later.
In the mean time, companies continue to move production from China, so Trump’s in no hurry. I hope things work out well for Hong Kong, but with regards to the bigger issue of China/U.S. trade, the U.S. has all the cards, and we have a president who knows how to play them. Xi’s future as supreme leader may not be as certain as previously thought.
