This kind of knowledge improves hydrocarbon & mineral exploration as well as increased knowledge (perhaps predictability !) of earthquakes so definitely study it.
This plate has been subducting foreons. It is well known as responsible for high grade coal in the adjacent front range and limited coal bed methane. I really struggle to see how real time monitoring of an event taking place over geologic time makes much difference.
Monitoring faults in real time could aid in predicting earthquakes but not in a timeframe for reliable and precise evacuation nor will it stop them. Monitoring is at best a curiosity with enough false positive potential to make it unbelieveable.
Study away. It is a free country.
