A 61-year-old man is dead after he was shot by an officer trying to enforce Marylands new red flag law in Ferndale Monday morning.
Anne Arundel County Police confirmed the police-involved shooting happened in the 100 block of Linwood Avenue around 5:17 a.m.
According to police, two officers serving a new Extreme Risk Protective Order (Red Flag Law), a Maryland protective order to remove guns from a household, shot and killed the man listed on that order.
Under the law, family, police, mental health professionals can all ask for the protective orders to remove weapons, said Sgt. Jacklyn David, with Anne Arundel County Police.

Mark my words: every divorced male, soon to be divorced male and ex-boyfriend is gonna get red-flagged. Hell hath no fury ....
The northeast includes Constitutional Carry VT, NH, and ME.
I’m presuming you’re meaning NY, NJ, MA, CT, and RI.
PA is a very gun friendly state, too.
Red Flag laws are ripe for abuse.
Planning to leave your husband? Better red flag him first.
Parent’s won’t lend you money? Your dad HAS to be crazy.
Stand up for your rights during a traffic stop? You bet the officer is going to let the right people know you’re unstable.
The problem is some of these old people are stuck in very bad neighborhoods with poor policing. Their gun maybe the only reason they are still living. The most dangerous people with guns are the gang bangers with illegal guns. That is who should be raided. But the gangs have bought off the government in many of these corrupt Democraric controlled cities. And they sit untouched in Baltimore and Chicago for example.
“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin’s thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn’t love freedom enough. And even more we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.”

The futures is now. TV ads for The Hunt, an ultraviolent political satire in which elites stalk and kill deplorables, have been pulled in the wake of the El Paso and Dayton mass shootings.
Lazy headline. Not noting that it was from last year is irresponsible.
We need a lot of clones of Henry Bowman.
A niece said one of her aunts requested the protective order to ‘temporarily’ remove his guns......likely had to do with a male family member being moved out that day.
Do you have a name or link to an article in your post 55? I can’t remember if I heard about that or not.
RE: Not noting that it was from last year is irresponsible.
I would refer you to comment #1 which said “From last year. Coming to a state near you.”
Not reading what the poster wrote and then complaining is irresponsible.
what I’ve gathered is this was a domestic issue....seems over ‘moving out’ a member of the family off the property that day , one of the aunts were afraid he or someone with access to the guns might cause trouble.
We’ll agree to disagree. Posting an article from last year without the date is nothing more than clickbait.
Marylands Red Flag Law Turns Deadly: Officer Kills Man Who Refused To Turn In Gun Baltimore CBS ^ | 5 Nov 18 | Kimberly Eiten
Sorry you can't read, which is your responsibility not mine. If you don't like the thread move to another one you can complain about.
Whatever.
Uh huh. Bye sourpuss.
I have a hypothetical as to how it would all play out and I didn’t want to get too deep into the weeds with it. I agree with you, so here’s the down and dirty.
Except for RI, CT and Mass, every state you mentioned has a sizeable Conservative bloc of residents. They’re all drowned out by the Liberal cities in each state, but New Hampshire gets drowned out by the Mass liberals fleeing TaxaChusetts and the college kids that do what they’re professors tell them. Those Liberal blocs give the politicians a false sense of security. So, lets say my scenario played out.....
Northeast down to DC is 1 of 3.
The West Coast is 2 of 3.
The Southeast, from South Carolina to Florida...west through Texas....through the Midwest..north to the Canadian border....and the Mountain states, except Colorado are 3 of 3. Now toss in West Virginia, western North Carolina, Western Virginia, all of Illinois except Chicago, ohio except for the major cities, Michigan except for the detroit area, almost all of Pennsylvania except for the major cities....all of Colorado except for Denver and Boulder... the eastern halves of Washington and Oregon....all of Nevada except the Vegas area, a sizeable chunk of Interior and southern California....most of Arizona and New Mexico....It would come down to darn near every part of the country, except for those in the major cities wanting to be part of #3.
In my opinion, if the Republican Governors and/or Legislatures of the Southeastern, Midwestern, Mountain States united, in the same way these liberal states want their popular vote nonsense and said....NO MORE - ENOUGH - NO MORE ILLEGALS - NO MORE BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP - NO MORE REFUGEES - NO MORE UNFUNDED LIBERAL POLICIES WILL BE IMPOSED ON THE PEOPLE OF OUR STATES - LAW AND ORDER AND THATs IT - NO MORE PROPERTY TAXES GETTING RAISED TO PAY FOR ILLEGALS AND SCHOOLS - the list could go on and on.
What could anyone do? Arrest the Governors for asserting their 10th Amendment rights on behalf of their citizens? Is the FBI or whoever going to roll right past the State Police and arrest one of these folks? I’d like to see one try to get past the some of the monsters on the Georgia State Patrol to snatch Gov Kemp. That’d be funny.
that’s the short version.
You’ve got some polish on your lip.
A state can’t simply suspend due process. Its illegal. Period.
Read the red flag law.
