When Bill Maher thinks they’re too far lleft, that’s significant.

Maher doesn't seem to be an across the board leftie. He has complained about California's high taxes and excessive regulations. He has also said, more than once I believe, that the Democrats are wrong about the Islamic threat. There's probably other Democrat policies he's not enamored with.

He seems committed to the Dems almost entirely because of his loathing for Christians. Everything else takes a back seat to that. Which makes him something of a nutjob, just a different sort of nutjob than Sanders, Warren etc. There's quite a few people like him out there IMO.
