I don’t know if its quite as bad as all that, but maybe we can look to history for some insight.
Why did Russian men, under the old USSR, have such rampant alcoholism and shortened lifespans? What was it that made life so unexciting that it needed to be escaped? Lack of opportunity? Oppressive government? Idiotic cultural “norms” imposed from above?
It’s too soon to draw complete parallels, but the ideals the hard left uses to gain advantage over the white male heteronormative orthodoxy have depressing effects.
