While your proposal has merit; no way in today’s world am I taking someone’s else’s kid “camping” unless one of their parental units goes with.
Sadly, I agree; there is a lot of exposure for the father in this case - and the unrelated child.
I remember playing with my children in a playground years ago; they were in some kind of jungle gym contraption (with tunnels and such) and I was circling, reaching in and grabbing/tickling them. Another kid came up and wanted to play, but there was no way I’d lay a finger on him. It was very sad, really. For all I know, he had a perfect family with loving parents - I just couldn’t expose myself to anything by letting him join in. This is where we are now...
