While doing some work outside I got to thinking. I've had a S&W 40 (since '93) for a long long time. Got my CCP a few months after moving here (Texas) back on '06. So I'm thinking, I walk the mall 5 days a week. Got to do something physical so I can watch all the TV I want. Maybe, maybe I might think about carrying considering current events. First of all, how would one carry an S&W 40 concealed??? Some kind of a fanny pack or what? Thought I might ask here.
But then I thought,,,,,,,,,,,,, I may have been born at night,,, but not last night. In spite of intentions, if one were to pull out a weapon and head for the sound of shots guess who authorities would shoot/kill first? In spite of the best intentions. Think I'll think a bit longer on the thought!!!!
Wear a Hawaiian shirt, or something similar, in the summer.
I carry a .40 a good bit of the time.
Mostly I'll tote a little Ruger SPl0l .357 with a laser site...
In the wide open spaces of a mall the .40 is great.
The little wheel gun is better close in.
Wasn’t aware of that. I haven’t seen anyone doing open carry of handguns in public here in the DFW area, but I know many folks around here have permits for CCW.

The License to Carry (LTC) Law in Texas took effect 1 Jan 2016. It replaced the Concealed Handgun License (CHL) designation and allows the license holder to carry a firearm either way.
Falco makes some decent leather holsters, IWB. I have the Ruger SR1911, and when concealed I have a left-handed holster, and carry on my back. (Left-handed holster gives a right-hand grab from the back.)
But, I open carry as much as possible. MUCH more comfortable, and it gets people more used to having firearms around in life.

Oh please, you know what I’m talking about. And as for your “situation,” I’d lots rather have someone use a club rather than a gun. Might save me a couple of leg wounds from errant rounds. We have far too many cops with size 44 uniforms and size 4 hats, coupled with a desire to kill something. Sorry, I know the bulk of our LEOs aren’t in that category, but there are still far too many who are abusive, particularly when it comes to animals. Bless the cops in the Dayton shooting that ran in and killed the bastard in a matter of seconds, and a pox on that useless prick in Florida with the yellow stripe on his back who didn’t and let those kids die!
