A young mom shot dead during the El Paso massacre was hit while shielding her baby boy, according to family. Mom-of-three Jordan Anchondo, 25, was at the Texas Walmart Saturday shopping for school supplies when she was one of 20 killed — with her family still trying to find out whether her husband, Andre Anchondo, had survived, according to the dead woman’s sister. Anchonda’s 2-month-old baby was not hit — but was still lucky to survive after getting crushed as his mother fell after getting shot dead, leaving him with broken bones.

Scherer wants Cruz’s trial to begin in early January 2020.
“I have to set a tentative trial date,” Scherer said.
Previously, she had been hoping to begin proceedings as early as September of this year.
Cruz’s legal team of public defenders pushed back against the proposed January deadline, arguing they need more time to take depositions and interview more than 300 witnesses.
“We certainly don’t want to create an unrealistic expectation in this community,” Melisa McNeill said. She is one of Cruz’s public defenders. “We do not believe that that is a realistic trial date.”
The defense team has taken 91 out of 131 scheduled depositions so far, according to the public defense team.
“You all need to pace yourselves accordingly,” Scherer said. “This case needs to move and I’m not going to change it today.”
This guy definitely wanted to make sure they’d execute him. It’ll work.

My daughter has four children ranging from 3 to 10. I could complete see her doing as much as she could to either shield her children or take the guy out herself. She wouldn’t hesitate.
Texas needs to fast-track the execution of this ass wipe. I wonder what the actual, no BS, fastest it can be done would be?

Endless appeals and ultimate paroles have destroyed real justice - as intended.
Every now and then there is a crime so heinous that the death penalty is easy. The only holdup I see here is that the perp is so young. But not so young that he can’t be executed.
