I don't know a single major gun company that makes 9mm's that doesn't also make 40 cal and 45 acp so that doesn't wash. I found the study very convincing - you should at least read it and make you own conclusions based on that. And, you should still stick with whatever you feel most comfortable and confident with - I won't argue with any person who says they just feel more confident and accurate with a 45. The greatest round in the world is useless if you don't hit what you are aiming at.
