8/2(2+2) = 8/2*4 = 4*4 = 16

8/2*4 = (8/2)*4, not 8/(2*4)

Multiplication and division are at the same priority and are done left to right if written left to right.

I was trained to solve the parenthetical parts of an equation first and the 2(2+2) would be solved as a single unit. Any elements separated by a symbol are then considered and dealt with.

Sal Khan of Khan Academy and MIT was trained the same way IIRC.

8 ÷ 2(2+2) is not the same notation as 8 ÷ 2 * (2+2).
