And what happened to this astonishingly visionary program, which would have fundamentally altered the course of American race relations? If we keep hearing about it, I am all for offering 40 acres and a mule to every one of them — IN AFRICA. We can buy some cheap land over there and let them have it. If they want to go, I say throw in a free one way ticket too.
It would cost a lot less than we currently spend because of them.
