My dad retired in Italy 30 years ago. I visit often. The Italians have over a dozen political parties and passion runs in their veins. Innovative said it beautifully ... . <> Have a great time. Dont talk Religion or Politics. Enjoy the food ! If youre in rural Italy in late Summer or Fall, watch for small Festivals. They celebrate everything from asparagus to zucchini.

With or without a cap, most American tourists stand out as American tourists, particularly in Italy. Could be the because they are fatter than most Italians, walk like weebles, wear fanny packs, wear l9go athletic shoes, pull their pants up to their neck (men) and tuck in their shirts, and think that talking louder in English will bridge the language barrier. Most Americans that we have observed in Europe are an embarrassment.
