Posted on 07/26/2019 5:45:19 PM PDT by Jonty30
I'm just curious as to how much of the approximate 1950 miles is now built?

A story earlier this week said not an inch of new wall has been built.

Mostly they have just replaced existing fencing, some of which was easily breached.

Unless you consider the miles of dilapidated and broken barbed wire fencing a “wall”, you are wrong...
Miles of double strand busted barbed wire have been replaced by a “wall”...

My understanding is that, no "new" wall has been built, but...
Repairs and replacing of current walls has been done, where those current walls might as well have not existed since they were totally useless and easily crossed. Now, the replacement/reparied walls are able to stop illegal immigrants whereas the old ones did not. In effect, they end up being "new", since the old ones basically were as porous as no walls at all.
If I remember correctly, the replaced/repaired walls were around 57 miles. (I could be wrong and welcome any corrections on the number).

As of January 2009, U.S. Customs and Border Protection reported that it had more than 580 miles (930 km) of barriers in place. The total length of the continental border is 1,954 miles (3,145 km).

I’ve heard they are replacing wall in important locations. Not sure any new wall in new locations has been built but it’s hard to get accurate non-biased info.
With this new SC decision more wall will be built.

“...construction should have been going on since the 90s...
Clinton, Bush, and Obama sure weren’t going to build any wall...

Correcting my own number: 52 miles have been 'built'.

You hit a key note...
The Lame Stream Media sure as hell aren’t going to report or photograph and new barrier, whether new or replacing barbed wire...They will continue to lie and say nothing has changed...

The total length of the U.S.Mexico border is 1,954 miles; as of August 2017, 705 miles have at least one of four kinds of barriers: pedestrian primary fence, pedestrian secondary fence, pedestrian tertiary fence, and vehicle fence.

Bush, Clinton, Bush, and Obama sure werent going to build any wall...
Border Security was promised in the 1986 amnesty.
It was GHW Bush that decided we would become North Mexico.
His successors have been following his policy of non-enforcement of laws and borders to fundamentally transform the country.

Thanks Dave - any knowledge of how many more miles these new billions will fund? Would be nice to at least hit the halfway point...
