Expect a spectacular rookie year from Kyler Murray if Kliff Kingsbury's Air Raid [tr]

As we anticipated when Kliff Kingsbury arrived in the NFL, the tidal waves of multiple wide receiver sets arrived with him. And it took only one training camp practice to see where this is going.

Count on three wideouts, then four with regularity. Count on defenses stretched and flattened from sideline to sideline. Count on Cardinals running back David Johnson working in space and receiver Larry Fitzgerald being fed and fed and fed some more. Count on run-pass options, pass-pass-pass options (if there were such a thing) and options that are dreaming up other options as you read this.

But maybe more than anything, count on Kyler Murray throwing a lot, running plenty – and quite possibly approaching some of the most impressive rookie quarterback stats we’ve seen in the past decade.

Kyler Murray ain't playing and Kingsbury ain't coaching against putrid Big 12 = 10 defenses. I expect Kyler not to make it through the year. Arizona's offensive line is one of the worst in the NFL, and in Kingsbury scheme they don't get help. The Patriots have run concepts from the Air Raid system for the past few years.

Maybe times and NFL contact rules have changed enough to where a 5’9 QB can succeed. But all it takes is one solid hit to get a 6’5 QB more worried about what’s about to hit him than making his reads downfield - when you make that QB 5’9 and one of his strengths is scrambling....I don’t know about this.

The article is more balanced than the excerpt suggests - and notes the Cards' poverty of talent. Still, it's an offense to keep an eye on.

We will see. Are the 12 defenses so bad or are the 12 offenses so good.

BTW, if you watch Murray’s film, he has a remarkable ability to avoid hits.

So Arizona will lose all their games by scores of 56-49.

"like I said, I feel like it works at the college level. I don’t see why it couldn’t work at the pro level. It’s our job to make people believe in that.”

The speed of everything is faster at the NFL level, that's why. Bigger, faster pass rush. Bigger, faster linebackers. Bigger, faster secondaries. The time to make a read is less. The ability of a scrambling QB to avoid hits, find a target, and deliver accurately is non-trivial. As a Seattle fan, I am quite familiar with Russell Wilson's ability, and Murray playing in the same division is no coincidence. The problem Murray is going to have is that the NFC in general, and NFC West in particular, is really used to playing a QB just like Murray, but with a lot more experience. Wilson had to learn to play in the pocket, and is super accurate both in and out of the pocket, but still has the ability to evade tacklers. Murray might be good in 4-5 years, assuming he lives that long. AZ also has no backup plan if Murray gets hurt.

From a guy that watched Kyler up close and personal, you have no damned idea what you’re talking about.

Big deal!! Since the NFL players stepped on my back, and others like me, to use us to make a point that went nowhere and never was intended to, and lied about it numerous times to try to get out of it, I haven’t watched a single game and don’t intend to again. Who cares?! They can con others into giving them their millions to disrespect those that gave their all for them so they could prove nothing, except their ignorance and/or their lack of caring for the heros that gave them their life.

WW I - 116,708 died with over 204,000 wounded
WW II - 418,500 Americans died with 671,846 wounded
Korea - 40,000 Americans died in action and more than 100,000 were wounded.

I didn’t report Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, or any of the other actions locations due to some thinking these were not actions directly for this country. But that’s a lot of bodies, dead and hurting, so these animals can play their racial politics of hatred.

No, count on Kyler Murray running for his life behind an offensive line that is more "Offensive" than it is line. He will be overwhelmed by the sheer speed and size of the D-lineman rushing through unmolested, and will get an abject lesson in just how fast and talented NFL linebackers and DBs are.

I fully expect him to be injured and on the shelf by week 5 or 6.

Its a ruse...stretch tbe defense and punch it up the middle with some monster 260 lb fullback. 5 to 10 yards a play.
