Thank you kindly, ifinnegan! The Metro Diary is one of the new columns complete reserved for reader submissions. It is one of the most popular columns, and has run since 1976.

I have been very fortunate to get published numerous times. You can find them by searching my name on the Diary page at NYT. Most I’ve cross-posted here to FR.

The one that got picked up is a doozy, and I am not kidding about the hyperventilating, it has started again tonight. The piece is outrageously funny and I would be very surprised if it does not go viral.
