Sad news. I always enjoyed him, no matter what role he played. He was to play the Ghost of Christmas Future in a new British mini-series of “A Christmas Carol.” He was born in Holland. Utrecht is only 125 miles from Schoondijke where my Dad was born. RIP Rutger. You were only 3 years older than me. Way too young to pass.

Convincing your girlfriend that she’s crazy or paranoid is called gaslighting , and it’s a dick move.

Convincing her that she’s a robot with artificially implanted human emotions is called bladerunning, and it’s a Philip K. Dick move.

At least he will live on in the movies. Says he died after a short illness. I guess that means whatever it was; he didn’t suffer long. That’s something I guess.

Oh yeah that was a good movie.

Hauer was good psycho in The Hitcher. I always remember that one.

A friend of mine in Venice, circa 1998, took a yoga class that he also attended. She said he was modest and friendly.

She was an aspiring actress, and had encountered quite a few, so I was struck by her favorable impression of him.

Flesh and Blood: with Jennifer Jason Leigh and Tom Burlinson. I enjoyed it, as I liked all three.

(Burlinson: The Man from Snowy River; Phar Lap; Piece of Cake [BBC series about the RAF/Luftwaffe Phony War]).

Yes! The Osterman Weekend. That was a great movie!

The studio ruined Buffy, which is why Whedon did the series, but I liked Swanson in the role.

Shared Blind Fury with a lot of Soviet friends when it came out on tape. It was filmed in Reno, where I was from, and was a comfort movie to me at the time. Also funny as hell.
