Texas Man Arrested in Death of Ole Miss Student Who Was Found Dead Near Lake

Citing the ongoing investigation, the sheriff’s office declined to release more details.

“We want to thank the family of Alexandria for their patience and their trust,” the department said.

Lafayette County sheriff’s deputies found Kostial’s body Saturday while they were on patrol near Sardis Lake, about 10 miles from the northern Mississippi campus, CNN affiliate KMOV reported. Her cause of death has not been released, according to CNN affiliate WMC.

Mississippi Bureau of Investigation Capt. John Poulos confirmed to CNN that state investigators are assisting the sheriff’s office and referred additional questions about the case to county department.

The University of Mississippi Police Department and Oxford Police Department are also assisting in the case, WMC said.

Anna Pasco, one of Kostial’s friends, told WMC she was shocked. “She quite possibly was the nicest human being that I’ve ever met,” Pasco told the affiliate. “It’s just hard for me because all I can think about when I see her face is what she went through, what she was thinking, what she was saying. It’s hard.”

It seems there is no shortage of sick, evil people in any race. Modern parenting sucks.

One report I read said she was shot 8 times. Whoever did it definitely wanted her dead.

The suspect is from Ft. Worth and is also a student at the University of Mississippi.

Sad. She seems to have been a good person. It sounds as if it may have been a case of “if I can’t have you, no one can.”

I see now where the quote came from. Percentage wise, if the media doesn’t immediately post the ethnicity of a murder suspect, it is probably not a white person. My guess would be that in this case, the media may have known early on but refrained from publishing the identity so that law enforcement could finish the investigation.

Expect him to lawyer-up extremely well.

Don’t be surprised if his lawyers use the Affluenza Defense.

“He was given everything he ever wanted but he could not get the girl and he could not deal with that in a rational manner.”

That is a tough sell in Mississippi but that is his only chance.

He’ll probably get Farese to represent him. Those guys got the woman that killed her pastor husband in the bed asleep with a shotgun.

I’ve been listening to old blues records for many decades.

I know the names of all the old Southern prisons.

Well you were wrong. He’s a student. He’s white. I’m sure you’ll post a follow up explaining why you went the racist route when you had no clue.

How is assuming that a murder suspect, in Texas, is Mexican qualify as racist? You do realize 'Mexican' is a nationality, not a race, right?

Angola ain’t no place to be
It’s for the lost who once were free
Fields of fear stretched far and wide
And razor wire goes to the sky
