The dems are always vulnerable to a divide and conquer strategy. The problem is that until Trump came along no Republican ever had the guts to take the fight directly at the dems (because they didnt want to get called a name). The democratic party doesnt have a large, cohesive base of support; it just has what appears to be a base, cobbled together from various special interest groups. Many of these groups actually have conflicting interests and agendas (just look at the cat fight brewing between feminists and transgender women, for example). All it takes is someone with courage, like Trump, to keep pointing this out and before long the dems are spending more time fighting amongst themselves than fighting Republicans.
Trump obviously gets this. I just hope potential future conservative politicians are paying attention and taking notes.
