What % of eligible voters knew FDR was disabled?


I’m pretty sure that most people knew he was ‘crippled’. Polio was a common disease back then. The news went out of their way to not show his disability but I don’t know that it was secret. He drew vast crowd where ever he went and everyone there could see he couldn’t walk.

His image is on the dime. Why such a small coin for such an important President? Because of The March of Dimes—which at the time was the big anti-polio charity. It’s not like in 1946 (when the FDR dime came out) that the nation was shocked that he was paralyzed.
