Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) said eliminating the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is not as radical as former President George W. Bushs implementation of the department after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. Ocasio-Cortez made the comments during a town hall event on immigration in New York on July 20. The comments were first highlighted in a video by the Republican National Committee. That criminalization frame has justified abuse [sic] of human beings. Thats one big reason why we have to take things from a criminalized frame to a civil frame, she said. And when people say Oh, you wanna to talk about dismantling DHS or abolishing ICE or all of these things. These are such radical agendas. First of all, I think that reorganizing and getting rid of DHS is not as radical as George Bushs creation, implementation of DHS in the first place.

the people on FR who are agreeing with her are oddly ignorant of her actual purposes. she doesn’t want what you want, folks.
I think her college degree came from the back page of a comic book, just saying......
This picture is scarier than any other picture or movie I have ever seen.
Someone should file legislation which would eliminate any protection provided to occasional Cortex by the Capitol Police.
I see a lot of comments on hov Cortez might be right. What y’all are missing, is that she probably doesn’t know DHS is separate from ICE or CBP. She thinks they’re all the same group.
I’m good with eliminating DHS. Let the military protect our borders and conquer new lands. heh
She and I can heartily agree on this one thing.
Fell for it, you did.
Sure. Last desperate act to seek agreement.
Why don’t we just decriminalize everything? Dump DOJ and the entire USC.
Who’s swallowing this tripe?
For the ignorant among us, DHS is not the problem: The Patriot Act is the problem. DHS is just more bloat which the new omnibus once again failed to address: Trump’s achilles heel (spending).
