Does anyone know about this group? I don't know what to make of it. Any ideas from y'all?
Some turnout, a hundred grand
Get with it we'll shake his hand
Don't bother to understand
Don't question the little man
Be part of the brotherhood
Yes it's chain lightning
It feels so good
Hush brother, we cross the square
Act natural like you don't care
Turn slowly and comb your hair
Don't trouble the midnight air
We're standing just where he stood
It was chain lightning
It feels so good
The song is supposedly about a couple of Nazis. In the first verse they are at a rally. The "little man" is Hitler.
In the second verse they return after the war to the scene of the rally. Interesting song especially as Donald Fagan was Jewish.
Very tasty stuff...

I have a friend that knows Larry Carlton well and he played on several of Steely Dan’s recordings. He’s known as Mr. 335.
No static at all.
Are you asking about the whatever-it-is Camera Players group? Because I can’t believe that you never heard of Steely Dan.
Great stuff! If there were a better band in the 1970’s I never heard them. Opinions and all that though....
Just No!
Steely Dan is on my permanently banned list.
Just No.
I’d forgotten how good this tune is.
Then obviously you weren’t listening.
BOC
Cheap Trick
Ramones
Sex Pistols
Undertones
The Jam
... Shall I go on?
Does anyone know about this group?
Um, yea. Donald Fagen and Walter Becker. Incredible talents. Incredible music.
I miss those days.

All good in their own right. But better than Steely Dan?
Not so sure about that.

Steely Dan was pretty much incapable of putting out a bad song. Phenomenal musicians.
I recommend that you check out their catalog ASAP.
They are one of those bands that get better with every listen.
As a bonus (after you have fully absorbed Steely Dan), explore "The Nightfly" by Donald Fagen.
No, Don’t go on junior. Arrogant jerk. F/Off sonny with your idiot crap ‘music’. Grow up.
Truly, the 70s had some amazing music, musicians and bands, but I cant think of any who were better than Steely Dan.
Plus, as a kid in junior high school in a world before algore invented the internet, I had fun trying to figure out what a steely dan was... no explaining that one to my parents... lol...

I’m reminded of RUSH’s song “Countdown” about the space shuttle. Above is the song dubbed onto various cool images of the shuttle and operations. The song includes actual transmissions between the shuttle and Houston.
“This magic day when super-science
Mingles with the bright stuff of dreams”
Objectively, it is true that perhaps no rock or pop band was ever more exacting and selective about their studio musicians.
Steely Dan’s complex, multilayered compositions are an audiophile’s delight.
“Are you asking about the whatever-it-is Camera Players group? Because I cant believe that you never heard of Steely Dan.”
Thank you! Yes, I am asking about the “The extraordinary New York Surveillance Camera Players”.
Steely Dan is forever in the top 5 list. I fell under their musical spell in middle school.
They would play at an amphitheater 10 mins from me each year. Each year I would say, “I’ll go next year”. Waited one year too long.
RIP Walter Becker.
I grew up with that crap.
Yeah they have technique. But do they have soul?
'Pod.
