Saw an episode of Destination Unknown concerning Mammoth remains in Siberia.
Seems the locals cut down some trees that were shading the permafrost below. Above the Arctic Circle.
Sun starting melting the ice.
Today the crater is a mile long and getting 100+ ft deep. Growing all the time.
Tusk hunters are illegally digging up remains, scientists trying to find viable DNA to resurrect the Mammoths.

The Batagaika crater is a thermokarst depression in the East Siberian taiga, in the Sakha Republic in Russia. The crater began to form after a forest was cleared in preparation for a road that was to be built in the region. The area is one of the coldest regions in the world and is layered in permafrost.
