I may be in the minority, but I think that Q's reference to Godfather III isn't so much about the Catholic church, but that he is using the movie to reference how the OLD GUARD reacts to threats.
Before anybody burns me at the stake, let me explain.
In the movie, a new pope was elected (Trump) who was not with or party to the corrupt outside AND inside elements who controlled the church. He was going to audit the books ($$), and there was a LOT of dirt there.
This scared the bejeebus out of the OLD GUARD, and they responded by not only poisoning the Pope, but going after Michael Corleone in the media to derail a deal he was making with the new Pope. Corleone was trying desperately to go legit and make amends with his church.
So, I honestly think that Q is making that comparison, though of course there may be some of the same problems with the current church in real life as there was in the movie.
Think of the Pope they got rid of as the Pope they poisoned, and the new Pope as the corrupt, controlled one they currently have.
I think that's exactly what Q is getting at, and has been all along with his Godfather III references.

A thought from Bagster's brain pan:
Often, when Q posts random sentences with no context like this, they show up in a Trump tweet or somewhere else as a Q proof. Lets keep our eyes peeled for that.
Thanks. All enlightening. My gut is not to take the Church reference from the movie too literally and edge toward Oracle’s interpretation, but you never know. We still do not know who “P” is.
Then there are the undeniable links via G. Maxwell to Israel (Israel last), and the odd analogies to the framework of NEXIVM.
There’s something really eerie about Biggbob’s transcript excerpt (”this world is children, more than all the money and power”).
In “The Monkey’s Paw,” the last wish is always for death.

Here, let me correct that.
