Western civilization is about progress. Real progress. Naturally “progressives” have to deny this since they are as close to anti-progress as can be done.
And I love “culture appropriation”. If those clowns would quit appropriate western culture, they’ve got the sixth century - and Islam.
Let’s be brutal about this. Which race, other than white, has been the driving force behind the worlds progress, mostly good but some bad, in the last 200 years?
Sophistry. To the extent there is a white race, western civ is the race’s creation and continues to power it. The massive flow of non-whites into western culture is a stark reminder of whose civ is superior. To argue otherwise is to buy into the idea that all cultures are equal, a leftist lie.

Why can’t we say Western Civilization was created by the White Race?
When Chinese or Japanese view western history, that’s what they say. And that’s what we say about their civilizations

That’s not really true. Some scientists don’t believe in it, but that being a majority opinion is pretty limited to the West and seems to be a consequence of WWII, an overreaction to the Nazi race-based atrocities. Go to Russia or India or China or anywhere that they don’t really have a guilt complex from that period of history and opinions among scientists trend much more towards the existence of races in the human species.

Augustine’s heritage was mixed...his father was Roman, but Monica was his mother, which sounds like a Berber name—it sure doesn’t look Roman. In any case the “West” in antiquity was really the western Mediterranean, including Western Africa, because northern Europe was still quite pagan.
Islam eventually destroyed the Church in North Africa, but pockets survived into the 1200s-1300s. The Roman explicitly noted the dark skin of the Berber tribes.
Oh, and plus the Kingdom of Kongo was Catholic by the early 1500s, and remained so into the late 1800s.
For most of Western Church history, there were people in it who would today be considered black. And of course in the East, Ethiopia has always been Christian, so this conflation of Christianity with being white is pure balderdash.

If we adhere to the first definition, then we are technically all ONE RACE — THE HUMAN RACE.
But to answer your question, it is because people want to divide us based on the second definition above because it is ADVANTAGEOUS to them financially and politically.

Well it kind of does if the author is making the argument that St. Augustine is an example of a non-caucasian who was key to the development of Western civilization. If he actually was of Roman descent (Hippo being a Roman colony after all), then that argument doesn’t make any sense.
It’s just easier to incite hatred for Whites than for “Western Civilization.”
White is shorthand for the various European ethnicities. Caucasian is a race, but that includes Arabs, Semites and Indians.
Races are a much weaker construct than culture.

Perhaps sometimes, but that is hardly the only reason to make the distinction. For example, if you go to the hospital with an unknown illness, do you want your doctor to ignore the existence of race? Assuming you are white, do you want him to have to go down the list of all the illnesses that only tend to affect East Asians and Subsaharan Africans that could fit your symptoms? Or do you expect him to test for the actual most likely culprits based on your obvious genetic makeup first?

Won’t get any argument from me. White is right — expect for guilt-ridden Ivy League race traitors.
I’ll give qualified respect to some Asians, mainly because they’re good at copying — and sometimes building upon — technology and culture from the West.
As for the rest, barbarians.

White people built the modern world and they hate them for it.
Exactly. Just where is the great literature, the great music, the great inventions and advances in manufacturing in Africa? They don't exist. And China was pretty much a 3rd world county until we went in and taught them modern manufacturing techniques.
For whatever reason, the Anglo Saxons were the ones to embrace the Protestant movement, which was really nothing but a return to many of the things Ambrose and Augustine themselves taught (sola scriptura, sola fide, sola gratia). So it's not a matter of whether or not Augustine was darker than I am (I'd bet he was). It's that in the past couple of centuries it was the Anglo majority nations that endorsed Christianity at both a personal level and a cultural level.
It wasn't the Egyptian Empire that abolished slavery and got nations within their influence to do the same. Nor was it Assyrian Empire. Nor the Persian Empire. Nor the Greek Empire. Nor the Roman Empire. Nor the Mayan Empire. Nor the Incan Empire. Nor the Ottoman Empire. Imagine how cool the world would have been the past 500 years or so if any one of those influential empires had respected their fellow man enough to free their minority populations. But they didn't. Throughout history some nations have had the will to do it, but no power to make it happen. Some nations have had the power to do it, but not the will. The Anglo majority countries actually made it happen because they alone had both the will and the ability.
And it's not because of the whiteness of our skin. It is 100% because we made it part of our culture to love God and love our fellow man. Other white cultures didn't go there (Exhibit A is the Soviet Union, Exhibit B are the white Muslim nations in the caucus region.) What made us like that is our zeal for the Lord.
And that's what the left is trying to stop every time they criticize "western values" and such. They know that a population without the Lord is a population that's easier to control.
