The Flintstones, when originally aired WAS an adult show. It was on at 8PM Friday nights in prime time. It was a direct rip off of the popular adult show, The Honeymooners, with Jackie Gleason. It was sponsored by Winston cigarettes, with commercials featuring the cartoon cast.
Except that the Flintstones was funny and Honeymooners wasn’t.
