I think this acknowledgement of white supremacy is not an empty, cynical virtue signaling action. It is a sincere, deeply held, moral belief, which will make this guy MORE popular in Vermont. It is somewhat like a Christian acknowledging man’s sinful depravity, which marks him as a Calvinist adhering to orthodox Christianity. Acknowledging “white supremacy” is similarly the central doctrine of liberalism.
