It wasn’t easy. My son just turned 22. We were always vigilant, yet gave him the space to think and act for himself. He was in martial arts from age 5. To this day he doesn’t do drugs or smoke. He drinks VERY rarely and never overly so like his dad. He wants to be a cop.
I think in the end you have to equip them with the brains, the street smarts to protect themselves. There’s only so much you can do as a parent. It’s all up to them.

I think a lot of parenting is not even about parenting but about how you live your own life and the example you set. It doesn’t have to be perfect but it has to be good enough.
