Last year, the men's World Cup generated $6 billion, and gave about 7 percent to the teams. The 2019 Women's World Cup made $131 million, and gave out more than 20 percent to the teams.

So the question becomes why the men’s tournament earned six billion, vs. $131 million for the women’s tournament? Gate attendance doesn’t account for that difference. Neither does tv viewership; the men’s tournament had about three times the viewership, not 45x. Where is all that extra money for the men’s tournament coming from?
I don’t know, but I agree with you that the issue is how profitable the teams are.

That's just not fair, clearly the men need reparations.
So let them try charging as much for a ticket to a women’s game as they do to a men’s game - see if they end up with equal pay......
If these were women of principle they’d go on strike and not play until it was resolved. Might take years.
They are cuter; they should be paid more.
