Code Ninjas was closed for a long Fourth of July weekend, otherwise it would have been crowded with children.

“We’re gone,” Erick Leon thought when he saw the damage. His store, Code Ninjas, had been “literally obliterated by the explosion.”
Code Ninjas, which teaches computer programming after school, was usually full of bright young learners. However, Leon and his staff had taken a rare holiday and closed the center for the Fourth of July weekend.
“Thank God,” Leon said. Code Ninjas was the closest occupied storefront to the blast and bore the brunt of the damage.
