“Just DIE already and make way for the young!”

Aren’t our new pagan, socialist overlords “wonderful”? Sarcasm off.

so who determines "limited life expectancy".....probably all of us Christian whiteys will be listed.....

having said that, we are totally unrealistic in this country about how much time, effort, resources, and money it takes to keep the sickly frail elderly alive...I think the days of extraordinary care are coming to an end.....probably will affect the very sick babies as well....

Back in the day (1950’-70s) Insurance companies felt the grand old age of 60 was the norm

Retire at 55 and drop dead on the golf course at 60, a Chesterfield clenched between your lips.

Now it’s retire at 65 and since you quit smoking years ago and started eating well, you can golf for the next 25 years.

This gets expensive.

We’ve had very elderly female family members whose docs have okayed discontinuing annual mammos. All got annual manual exams and never had any issues arise that warranted a change in recommendation. All lived into their late 80s, 90s, and a couple over a hundred. None died of cancer.

Seems to me informed consent is what’s critical here.

I am all for this if it will be applied to octogenarian and septuagenarian democrats like Feinstein, Ginsburg, Pelosi, Biden, Sanders.

Right after Obama came into office, before he pushed through the ACA, Dr. Eziekel (”Dr. Death”) Emanuel, Rahm’s brother, was pushing the notion that PSA testing was overdone, because it was economic. The reasoning was that many men had mild prostate cancer which wouldn’t affect their life expectancy, so they were overtreated.

As a PC survivor (radiation about 4 years ago), with a father who died from it in a most unpleasant fashion, I thought that these people had a hell of a nerve. Not watchful waiting... just downright ignoring the possibility.

Let’s stop screening the folks at Johns Hopkins and see how they like it!

“So sorry. You’re just a bunch of quacks anyway. It’s not like you’re going to contribute anything meaningful to society. Don’t worry. If you want to be put to sleep, we’ll allow you to spend your own money on that instead.”

That’s refined from my dad. He was buying a hat for working out in the yard. The kid told him it had a lifetime warranty, and he said son that doesn’t mean much to me

open access paper

Communicating About Stopping Cancer Screening: Comparing Clinicians’ and Older Adults’ Perspectives

It's based on this accessment

Accurately Predicting 10-Year Mortality for Older Americans: An Extension of the Lee Index

NOTE: " Our primary predictor was our 12-item mortality index (age 60–64: 1 point, age 65–69: 2 points, age 70–74: 3 points, age 75–79: 4 points, age 80–84: 5 points, age 85+: 7 points; male gender: 2 points; current tobacco: 2 points; BMI <25: 1 point; diabetes: 1 point; non-skin cancers: 2 points; chronic lung disease: 2 points; heart failure: 2 points; difficulty bathing: 2 points; difficulty managing finances: 2 points; difficulty walking several blocks: 2 points and difficulty pushing/pulling large objects: 1 point). Our primary outcome was 10-year mortality (death through 2008), confirmed with the National Death Index."

Being male in this study is considered as fatal as having cancer, smoking, heart failure etc.

Conclusion: lets kill the old white guys

Sure made me feel better when the doc told me he wasn’t going to bother with a blood test for prostate cancer any longer because even if I developed the cancer something else would probably kill me before the cancer did - not......

Biden will cure cancer. I saw him say it on TV.

Don’t these folks have TV sets?

I have consistently refused Mammograms. Never have had one and won’t. Just last week had two small TMIs (I thougnt), so went to hospital. They kept me two days and did all the obvious tests. Heart check, Blood check, Cat Scan, Ecos of heart & Carotid arteries, MRi of brain. They declared me to be the healthiest 85 year old they’ve ever seen. I allowed them to do all those tests because I’ve never had some of them. Thought it would be a good idea to see my overall health. After thinking on what the fade outs might be I decided that I had dehydrated. Now I’m sorry I retired two weeks ago.
