I have heard stories of hospitals shutting down for a time in a region, and the mortality rate actually improves.

Back in the 70’s there was a Dr. Robert Mendelsohn who had this schtick about how “in the hospital you can find germs that you can’t get anywhere else in town!”

Seattle is not in a rain forest, that would be on the Olympic Penninsula to the West.
Average annual Seattle rainfall: 37.5 inches
Average annual Michigan rainfall: 32.25 inches
Average annual Houston, Texas rainfall: 49.77 inches
Average annual New York City rainfall: 47 inches

Every child is a gift from G-d, even children of Democrats.
Children are to be held blameless, to do otherwise is to classify yourself as a sick twisted barbarian.
I think I know which camp you’re in.

Yep - if they spent as much effort on hygiene as they do in gouging patients/insurance companies, they might not have the septic issues that abound in them.

I lived out there for 28 years. Don’t waste your time telling me about Michigan vs western Wa. Your numbers are meaningless.

The hospital I work at applies OR-level filtration to ALL air entering the building. The ORs have their own dedicated air handler that has an even higher level of filtration applied.
Even if we have a momentary pressure loss (power bump stops the VFD, etc) for a moment, infection control is immediately contacted to monitor and alleviate any possible problems.
This kind of incident is inexcusable, and the staff responsible for the HVAC systems should be brought to the spanking room for a serious discussion, at the very least.

That rain in Seattle is a steady drizzle over the course of 10 months.
It’s as depressing as all Hades.
I live 90 miles from Seattle.
