San Bruno police said they are at Tanforan Mall in San Bruno investigating reports of a shooting. They advised residents to stay out of that area.

Brent Andrews, spokesperson for San Francisco General Hospital, told ABC7 there were four victims in the shooting, two of whom were taken to SF General. He said two victims taken to SF General were juveniles, "15-18 years old," with gunshot injuries. One of the victims is in critical condition and the other is in serious condition. Andrews also said the two others were taken to other hospitals in the area.

“The facility was named after Toribio Tanforan, the grandson-in-law of Jose Antonio Sanchez, the grantee of the Rancho Buri Buri Mexican land grant.”

Thanks, I didn't know that. I live in the Buri Buri neighborhood in SSF, and know that the Rancho Buri Buri extended pretty much all the way down the peninsula from SF before being subdivided within the time it became USA land.

i see.
well, the thing is that the distance (and horrible traffic much of the time) means that a trip to SFGeneral can take a lot longer

so that’s what I was concerned about

maybe you can get Kaiser to expand their emergency room or???????

if 101 is jammed up, as it can be quite a bit....people may be dying from the delays trying to get there

It really doesn't take that much time to travel to SF General, especially for an ambulance with sirens to clear a path. Last year, shooting victims from the YouTube headquarters in San Bruno were sent to SF General. Usually in normal traffic the drive is about 20 minutes. But I see your point, when minutes can make a difference in saving a life. However, SF General does have the best trauma crews to save lives. People going to surrounding hospitals for trauma are often then sent from that hospital to SF General for more skilled life-saving treatment.

A while back, I worked for the SF Health Department in building a new computer data center, and interacted with SF General facility staff for two years. They have an extensive campus with many doctors and medical equipment. Additionally, they have a new multi-million dollar wing for trauma built with Mark Zuckerberg's money (the Facebook guy), coincidentally named Zuckerberg SF General.

I can't get Kaiser to expand anything, I don't have money like Mark Zuckerberg (ha-ha, I wish).

Kaiser SSF has a good reputation but i understand if maybe their emergency room isn’t as well equipped as SFGeneral’s

it sure would be a goood idea to try to get it expanded or upgraded, though.

“saving time saves lives” when it comes to emergency medical treatment

maybe Genentec might donate to KaiserSSF?

Maybe they already do that. My oldest daughter worked at Genentec for many years before moving to Iowa. She often told us of the many causes in South SF that Genentec donates money. They donated much money to her high school for programs which is how she found out about Genentec, and she later got a job there after university graduation. Genentec is probably most responsible for the gentrification of downtown SSF, which has gone upscale over the last 25 years. Besides donations to stores and restaurants, Genentec's employees are given "Genentec dollars" to spend at downtown SSF stores and restaurants. I'll ask my daughter if she knows if Genentec donates to Kaiser in SSF.

Genentec does donate to things and that’s why i thought of them for helping upgrade the ssf Kaiser hospital emergency Room to handle the fuller range of serious cases
