King writes amazing novels, is an asshole personally, and most of the movie adaptations are horrible. Carrie and The Shining being two notable examples. I loved “The Stand” enough to visit most of the places in it, but can’t remember if I even knew there was a movie or TV version. Because it sucked or would have. As will the new one. Some books can’t be made into movies, that’s all there is to it.

Personally, I have always considered the Stanley Kubrick version of The Shining to be one of the two greatest horror films of all time. The other being the first Nightmare On Elm Street. Carrie was watchable but nothing special.
