All at once would work for me.

The best way to have taxation at the the Federal level is a combination of moderate across the board tariffs and a tax on state government expenditures.

That lets the states handle all domestic taxation and rewards low tax/low spending states.

“All at once would work for me.”

And the ONLY WAY that promise (replacing the national income tax with a VAT) should be allowed to be made is if the VAT can only be triggered after the 16th Amendment is REPEALED. Otherwise we’ll have both, I promise that.

I just do not see what stops them at any time either raising the national tax higher, or also going back an implementing some form of income tax again, as they love to target enemies using weaponized taxes.

They jever colect enough taxes to cover spending, they always have rationalizations for raising taxes or creating them.

One year later, oops, we need an income tax again, the “rich” arent paying their fair share.

Unless they have language that says there can never be any other form of taxation on citizens while a national sales tax exists, we have no insurance against this.
