“haven’t visited there since 1969.”

Our family of 5 was there in 1966. Cost for one day, including food, about $50.True, fifty years ago, but still affordable for a middle class family.

In August, 1959, my family of five spent the day at Disneyland. Afterwards, my father complained about the cost, including tickets, parking and food, which amounted to a whopping $30.

Another park that we frequented was Knott's Berry Farm. We liked to go there on Friday nights for a chicken dinner and then visit the ghost town. At the time, admission was free.

My mother worked at the Farm's Chicken Dinner Restaurant as a waitress in 1942 and her boss was Cordelia Knott, wife of the founder and owner (and conservative activist) Walter Knott. In the 1950's, some of the chickens served there came from my uncle's ranch.
