Sen. Bernie Sanders said he would be open to implementing busing in 2019 after the issue came up during the first Democratic primary presidential debate. I am really concerned about the growing segregation once again the resegregation of communities all over this country," the 77-year-old Vermont independent told National Review in comments published Friday. "Were seeing more and more schools which are being segregated. And that is something we have to deal with.

Does Bernie support busing white suburban kids into the inner city, where they will be endangered and subject to subpar education, while SIMULTANEOUSLY supporting self-segregated black-only zones in colleges?
I’m almost certain he does, although AFAIK he was never specifically asked.
To self: Sorry for repeat post.
Busing of students did not work then, and it will not work now. There are areas of greater or lesser concentration of some “racial” types, but forcibly putting children of one demographic group in close contact with those of another demographic group, just to satisfy “balance”, is wrong and done only with mischievous intent. The later alternative offering school CHOICE, in which the parents and the children has some voice in which school they could or should attend, with the aid of school vouchers issued by the state, provided the opportunity to escape really poorly administered school districts and put pressure on the real purpose of education, to provide an educational experience that led to gainful and fulfilling living as an adult.
Are they going to use environmentally safe buses? What will AOC say? Oh, the horror. Gasp. Choke. Cough!
Of course he is.
Regardless what misguided, post-17th Amendment ratification Senator Sanders is saying about busing for school integration, patriots are reminded of the following.
The states have never expressly constitutionally given the feds the specific power to dictate policy for INTRAstate schooling. This is evidenced by the following excerpts from the writings of Thomas Jefferson, Justice Joseph Story, and other state sovereignty-respecting justices.
"The power to regulate manufactures, not having been confided to congress, they have no more right to act upon it, than they have to interfere with the systems of education, the poor laws, or the road laws, of the states [emphases added]. Congress is empowered to lay taxes for revenue, it is true; but there is no power to encourage, protect, or meddle with manufactures." Joseph Story, Article 1, Section 8, Clause 1, Commentaries on the Constitution 2
From the accepted doctrine that the United States is a government of delegated powers, it follows that those not expressly granted, or reasonably to be implied from such as are conferred, are reserved to the states, or to the people. To forestall any suggestion to the contrary, the Tenth Amendment was adopted. The same proposition, otherwise stated, is that powers not granted are prohibited [emphasis added]. United States v. Butler, 1936.
So while Sen. Sanders heart is arguably in the right place, federal Democrats and RINOs who want to win votes with promises of social engineering need to get themselves elected to state governments so that they can use the unique 10th Amendment-powers of the states to experiment with things like school bus integration, depending on what the legal majority citizen voters of a given state want.
Justice Brandeis had put it this way.
"It is one of the happy incidents of the federal system that a single courageous State may, if its citizens choose [emphasis added], serve as a laboratory; and try novel social and economic experiments without risk to the rest of the country. Justice Brandeis, Laboratories of democracy.
Note that constitutional limits on states as laboratories of democracy is that states cannot establish privileged / protected classes or abridge constitutionally enumerated rights, and must maintain a constitutionally guaranteed republican form of government.
Remember in November 2020!
MAGA! Now KAG!
[[Isnt Vermont about as white as it gets?]]
It’s the Alabaster state
[[Integration is now an issue with these politicians???]]
They have to distract from the fact that they all want higher taxes soemhow
Busing to gain a "proper" skin color mix, has always failed, too. Many, if not most, parents chose their home community with an important part of the selection based on the quality of the school system. Part of quality included being close enough to schools that the kids can walk to school. Forcing them to take a bus to a far away school has a simple solution - move. I guess Bernie would fix that by outlawing moving.
Bernie Sanders also deeply feels healthcare is a right.
Obviously Bernie Sanders violates the human rights of everybody he has ever been near in private.
If Bernie has never offered and performed professional healthcare services with a person he is alone with in the elevator, then he obviously has violated their human rights.
And if he has, since he isn’t a Medical doctor, he is guilty of malpractice as well as violating their human rights.
Just sayin,...be careful what you wish for Bernie. People might hold you accountable for the human rights abuser you really have become.
I dont care who goes to which school as long as there are high standards for behavior of the students. Anyone not there to learn should be suspended twice, third time permanently expelled from that school. If this happens at two different district schools, the kid is out of the district and parents have to pay for tutoring at home.
These socialists want more than busing. They want to integrate neighborhoods, like Julian Castro tried to do when running HUD. That is why it is very important to list your race as either Hispanic or black in the census if you have any trace of that in your background. The census is being used as a tool against white neighborhoods. The other thing you can do is not answer the race question at all.
Sadly, yes.
I bet if you surveyed a lot of AAs they would affirm they still exist.
Yeah, that worked so well in Dallas, TX back in the 70s. Not. After having my jr. high school in lockdown every single day with iron gates in the halls and students locked in their classrooms with no bathroom breaks due to physical attacks by angry blacks that were bused in, there was a white flight. We got the heck outta Dodge, too. My old school and neighborhood went from one black student to pretty much all blacks.
No, Bernie is just pushing free transportation
Talk about being stuck in the 60s...
Bernie is missing the boat. The new wave is Blacks only graduations and Afrocentric education. The only lives that matter are “black lives” unless they kill each other or get aborted.
OMG, talk about a party out of ideas! Let’s bring back the failed policies of the past! Great idea, not.
“Isnt Vermont about as white as it gets?”
Yes, it most certainly is. It also has very unrestrictive gun laws and a very high rate of gun ownership, and a very low rate of crime. Bernie could learn a few things from the reality around him, but that would be too much strain for his brain.
The government is not pushing segregation anymore. The people are segregating themselves, which is entirely different.
Bussing is not the correct answer. They’re preying on the notion that people my age don’t know anything about it, and will automatically support it because it sounds fair. Some of us are not that ill-informed, and we know how much that policy was hated.
Talk about exposing kids to bullying and student violence.
