My GF and her son drove from NC to Idaho last summer. I mapped the route on google map and took street scene screen shots of the signage at every exit and lane change they needed.
Put it all together in a narrative with the photos. The only thing they used google for on the road was to find lodging.
I just took on a new position at work managing a new onsite product demonstration trailer.
I don’t need a CDL license but since it’s a commercial vehicle, I need to follow all the rules. Especially in the northeast, there are plenty of roads I can’t travel on.
My GPS is not optimized for truckers. A couple months ago, I was trying to bypass NYC and ended up at one such restricted road.
New York doesn’t give out state maps at their “welcome Centers”. I spent an hour poring over map sites looking for trucker maps and finally had to subscribe to a trucker version of Waze.
I’m heading up that way in a couple weeks and am ordering a trucker optimized GPS unit (at company expense)
