Thanks, bitt; I will address this later.
Prepping basics.
Some kind of lighting. Being in the dark is icky. Don’t burn down the house! If using candles put on metal surface, cookie sheet, plate, etc. Many house fires are from candles. Battery lamps, 12 volt lights are good.
Cannot have too many flashlights or batteries.
Way to cook. Camp stove and propane is easiest and cheap. Or propane regular cook stove.
Place to crap and put it. The importance of sanitary pooping cannot be underestimated. Composting toilets DO work. Read “Humanure”, best book on the topic, it is online. Even works on small city lots if you have a bucket or two and composting material (lots of things will work - dirt, leave mould, chipper shredded stuff, sawdust etc) and done right (it’s easy) it will not smell. Water water water never enough if you don’t have a well. Store as much as you can, you will never regret it. We have a 2500 gal water storage tank we keep full and another slightly smaller one we can get going.
Enough water to at least sponge bathe with. Being dirty is a HUGE depressant.
Did I saw water? No one ever has too much water.
Paper plates etc because if you have not much water, that means not enough water to wash dishes.
Solar well pump for long term use if you have well. Usually people have pressure tanks and the well pump just fills that tank, several times a day. We pump the well every few days and fill up big tank. I recommend that method to everyone who has a well.
Foods you can open and heat or cook easily. That you already like and can digest. Eating stuff you normally do not eat means tumtum may protest and diarrhea, constipation or stomach aches are not fun.
A few thoughts.
