Keep in mind, the general strategy for a Presidential party nomination--regardless of party--is to run to your party's ideological extreme. Then, once you've received the nomination, is to tack back to the middle a bit, to gain back the moderates with short-term memories.

The ideological extreme of the Democrat Party is downright scary, and I can't imagine what their candidates will do and say 10 years from now.

The Left was saying these things in the 1960s when the Black Panthers were passing out tracts quoting Mao telling youth to kill their parents.

...When the Weather Underground was championing the Manson Family killing rich capitalists and then eating their food.

...When the Weather Underground was saying that in the Marxist revolution, 25 million American hold-outs would hav to be slaughtered since they would be unsuitable for political re-education.

The militant Left committed THOUSANDS of bombings in the 1970s.

The Black Panthers and Weather Underground were teaming up together and robbing banks in the 1980s to fund their activities.

And we are still dealing with the leaders of the Far Left from the 60s and 70s.
