“Wake County first learned of the high levels of unhealthy chemicals in 2010 after a water sample from southeast Raleigh showed high levels of uranium.

From 2010 to 2014, the county tested about 400 wells and found the high levels of unsafe chemicals. Some people began getting notified in 2016; mass notifications didn’t start until this week.”

Obviously, all affected are in imminent danger!

/S

It took between 5 and 9 years to notify well owners?

Seriously?

Sounds like someone just got a new piece of Test Equipment or a new activist Administrator or a new idea on how to get more funding for the department.

“When you get a new Hammer, everything looks like a Nail.”

Radon in basements and wells has been a known issue for decades (or longer).

Let’s call Hillary. Maybe she can make a deal with Putin to buy some of the water. Heck, she’ll give it to him.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but those are naturally-occurring radioactive ELEMENTS, not CHEMICALS.

You have to read pretty deep in, but they are right there in the periodic table. Present in the earth’s crust in some concentration.

I suppose the word “chemicals” evokes a more emotional reaction, and they can find a way to blame Duke Energy or Trump for these. Can’t report any news without supporting the bigger cause taught a J-school, ya know.

I have lived in the affected area for the last 20 years. They are claiming that the uranium can cause kidney problems. I am waiting for some more specific information. Can’t wait to see how this affect property values and sales.

Wonder if the PTB are trying to scare the public into approving a public water system...
