Its basically just a different type of winglet. It effectively increases the span aerodynamically without actually added more distance. Plus with the new wings theres a little less parasite drag. The wingspan is 117 feet. In fact the airplane is so “clean” that Boeing had to install some other things that allow us to descend. It likes to hang out up high and sip gas.

Additionally, to equal the same fuel efficiency in a car, you would have to get from San Diego to Orlando with only about 63 gallons of gas. About 35 miles per gallon in a 4 passenger car as the crow flies. But its 4 solid days in a car and 5 hours in a jet.
