there is actually a movement, excuse the pun, where people do drink feces to ‘cure’ things like intestinal problems like crohn’s and ibd & such- there are supposedly even crap pills you can buy that are supposed to be tested and approved-

Don’t doubt me on this - soon we will have a market for top athletes poo pills. I’m not kidding. The FDA will try to squash this but its going to go black market in Beverly Hills.

I have heard nothing legitimate about folks with crohns or IBS “drinking” feces.

But there has been plenty of evidence people with Crohns, colitis & IBS have very weak microbiomes (smaller populations and less varieties of healthy microbes) in their gut, and plenty of recent research with fecal transplants - administered like a colonoscopy, but putting healthy fecal material in. The fecal material used is first diagnosed for any pathogens and diseases and rejected if it contains any harmful elements. The process does apparently “transplant” healthy microbiome populations and with some folks has had very positive results. Beyond transplanting the microbes, the material is expelled in the normal process of elimination.
